Day 6 – Products of Holy Spirit

Romans 8:9-11 (NKJV) “But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”

The grace of the Holy Spirit transforms body, soul, will, and emotions as they are united with the Spirit of God. Romans 8:9-11 gives a clear indication that without the Spirit, we don’t have Christ in us.

So, if we allow the Holy Spirit to transform us and have Christ inside of us, should we not have the products of the Holy Spirit in us? What exactly are the products, and what do they mean to us? The indwelling of the Spirit will produce attributes (fruit) and abilities (gifts) both needed to walk in our purpose and calling, not merely for our own benefit but others as well.

Before we continue looking at the fruits and gifts, we need to know the distinction between the two first:

  • Attributes / Fruits – referring to the outward display of a Christ-like character gained through growth and maturity.
  • Abilities / Gifts – ability empowered by the Spirit, imparted within and then for Ministry of others, the church. An unconditional gift received to display the power of God.

Fruits and gifts work together for the Glory of God to serve others as He called us to do. The same Spirit is inside of us as believers, but with a diversity of abilities. For a moment, acknowledge how important it is to have the Spirit of God inside of you and thank God that you can display His character and power to others through the Spirit.

Being the Spirit man/woman God has called you to be will be dependent on the indwelling of the Spirit and how you display His attributes and abilities in the world.

Prayer: Holy Spirit thank You for transforming our bodies and for enabling us to unite with the Spirit. As each person accepts the invitation and call of the Spirit, may they also become aware of the products of the Spirit and allow the working in their lives unto others as well. Amen.
