Dancing to the right music – Day 13

Authority

Luke 10:19-20 (The Message) “Jesus said, “I know. I saw Satan fall, a bolt of lightning out of the sky. See what I’ve given you? Safe passage as you walk on snakes and scorpions, and protection from every assault of the Enemy. No one can put a hand on you. All the same, the great triumph is not in your authority over evil, but in God’s authority over you and presence with you. Not what you do for God but what God does for you—that’s the agenda for rejoicing.”

A very powerful scripture for those of us that fear conflict due to lack of authority. This truth about authority should kill the fear immediately! Having authority has nothing to do with us, but all about God’s presence inside of us – this is so amazing, and I do hope that this creates a huge excitement in your heart today!

Ephesians 6:10 (KJV) “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.”

As God revealed this truth in my life while dealing with people-pleasing, I could feel the snares loosen in my heart – you see, we always try everything out of our own power and strength, and we fail. As we try to do things our way, we start dancing to the lies of the enemy and soon find ourselves hiding in the shadows instead of taking the authority that is already inside of us.  Yes, it is already inside of us, so why do we lack it? Why does fear conflict so much, why do we shy away if we have the power inside us to rise to the person or situation in love and power? The answer is easy – another trap set by the enemy to immobilize us.

2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV) “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

If you have the spirit of God, you have all the authority you need, the key is to ask God how to use it. This involves relationship and believing that His power is inside you. Stop allowing the fear of conflict to drive you. Instead, allow the authority of God to direct you.  Reject those lies and use your power of love and a sound mind to change the song you dance to.

Prayer:  Heavenly Father, we thank You that we have authority inside of us, Your authority. Thank You for giving us a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind.  As we seek You and spend time with You Lord, please show how to apply this authority in our lives and overcome every trap the enemy has set for us. Amen
