Dancing to the right music – Day 8

The words of the liar

John 8:42-44 (AMP) “Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father [but He is not], you would love and recognize Me, for I came from God [out of His very presence] and have arrived here. For I have not even come on My own initiative [as self-appointed], but He [is the One who] sent Me.  Why do you misunderstand what I am saying? It is because [your spiritual ears are deaf and] you are unable to hear [the truth of] My word.  You are of your father the devil, and it is your will to practice the desires [which are characteristic] of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks what is natural to him, for he is a liar and the father of lies and half-truths.”

The final face of fear. The words of the liar – the spider that kills. The power of words spoken over us is deadly and one of the most important contributors to becoming people pleasers. Hurtful words spoken over us enter our hearts, find their way to our minds, build up in our thoughts, and finally manifest in our actions. 

Rejection, unworthiness, mistrust, and fear of conflict are fed by lies and if we allow these lies to override God’s truth, we will remain swirling and turning to the music of the world – stuck in darkness. Since the enemy is the father of lies, he will use any means or any person to spread his lies to steal, kill and destroy.

1 Peter 5:7 (ESV) “Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”

Father God wants us free. Dancing to songs of worship and praise while we have an abundant life.  Cast your cares unto Him today, those lies that play over and over in your mind. Those feelings of not being good enough and not measuring up; trying to please all around you. Ask Holy Spirit to open your spiritual ears to His truth again and allow this truth about you to change you from the inside out.

Identify all the lies that have been spoken over you and prepare your heart for the last few days of this devotional to receive and accept His truth over your life.

Prayer: Thank You Lord for revealing all the faces of fear to us, as we faced them one by one, I pray that we will become aware of the words of the liar that kills, open our spiritual ears again for us to hear the right sounds again and dance to the power of Your word. Open our hearts for your truth in the next few days – truths that will set us free.
