Day 1 – Rise up, Daughter!

“Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.” Isaiah 52:2 (KJV)

In the past few months, so many things have been happening in the world. There are wars, crime, and abuse, and it seems like every day the world is moving further and further away from the Lord. People are confused and self-centered, making God the bad guy in many situations, where others debate and negotiate the Bible to fit in with their own ideas. Changing the Bible to justify sin. It is easy to get caught up in these negative things and see no hope for the future. It is easy to participate, even if it is just through our thoughts, in all these worldly diversions and get distracted by the never-ending darkness that surrounds us in the world. We are, as this verse so accurately states, “captives” of this world. Until Jesus came.

This is where we as Jesus followers are and should always be different from everyone else. We should be the ones that see the light beyond the darkness. We should be the ones to bring light in situations where no one else sees the light, through the light inside us. We should be able to shake off the dust, arise and sit down at the feet of Jesus, to receive His guidance. Then we can rise up and be the daughters our Father wants us to be. Daughters that are following His lead in every way and with every decision we take.

I pray that today you rise up, no matter what your situation is, to show the world that you are the child of the most High King.

Prayer: Dear Father, thank you for being my light in the dark world. Please remind me daily that although I am living in this world, I am not from this world. Please help me to rise up in your light daily and be a light to the world. Thank you for your sacrifice to send your Son to die for me on the cross. I pray in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
