Day 14 – Your presence I desire
Genesis 39:2-3 “The Lord was with Joseph, and he [even though a slave] became a successful and prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master, the Egyptian. Now his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord caused all that he did to prosper (succeed) in his hand.”
Let’s consider the effect that the presence of God has on people.
Joseph. Twice in this Scripture, we read “the Lord was with him”. Joseph’s life journey did not deter the presence of the Lord; on the contrary, God’s presence impacted him greatly! It was evident to all that there was a mighty Presence that made him stand out. And this Presence caused him to conquer his pitiful past, become successful and fulfil his purpose.
God’s presence in Daniel caused him to “find favour, compassion and loving-kindness, knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom … the king found them ten times better than all the learned magicians and enchanters who were in his whole realm”.
In Solomon, God’s presence manifested in unprecedented wisdom, such that the world had never seen before, nor will ever see … And when Solomon brought the ark to the house of God, the glory of God’s presence filled the Lord’s house so that the priests could not remain standing.
Dear friend, the Presence of the Holy One of Israel is with you. Take courage!
Prayer: Eternal Father, God, Whose presence made such a difference in Joseph, Daniel, and Solomon’s lives, I welcome you into my day. I invite You to reign over my life, my thoughts, my decisions. Come and fill me afresh, Holy Spirit. That I will be a light to those around me who are in the dark. Amen.
