Day 16 – Don’t Skimp on Sleep

“He lets me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still and quiet waters. He refreshes and restores my soul (life); He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His names sake.” Psalms 23:2-3

One of the most elusive attacks from the enemy is the theft of our sleep, either by making us so busy that we do not have enough time or when we do sleep filling our thoughts with lies about inadequacy and worry. One of the most potent weapons of keeping depression and anxiety at bay is enough rest and this we get through applying the wisdom God gives in planning and being obedient by not over-committing ourselves to things we were not called to do.

Prayer: Father, You are the one who gives us rest, You are the one who promises that what is needed comes to us who trust in You, even in our sleep. May You find our rest to be to Your honour, free of worry and filled with rejuvenation, for, after all, everything will be okay. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
