Day 22 – God knows!

“For your ways are in full view of the Lord, and he examines all your paths.” Proverbs 5:21

Herewith a small, yet fruitful testimony of obedience and trust in the Lord: “God is omnipresent, and He sees everything.

As per my usual lunch time routine, I was sitting outside on my step and waiting for my hour to tick by. My daydreams were interrupted by a woman who was anxiously phoning everyone she knows for help. She needed money to get home. She was standing aside with a few groceries, and one could see she was desperate. Usually, I would mind my own business and not be bothered by my surroundings.

That day, I had a R50.00 note in my handbag and something (I realized it was the Holy Spirit) urged me to help this woman. I went up to her and asked her if I could bless her with this R50.00. She accepted with much gratitude, and I went on my way back to work.

As I walked back inside and put my things back in their place to continue the rest of the day, I saw the woman come into the shop. She used the money for something completely different than what she had implied. Immediately, I was angry and confused. How could she misuse the blessing she has been given? Did I not hear the Holy Spirit? Did I act on my own impulse and not listen to God?

For the rest of the day, that is all I could think of. On my way home, I asked my mother for advice. I told her exactly what happened and how I felt about it. I had prayed and I wanted clear answers. I wanted a sign that I had indeed heard and obeyed the Holy Spirit. As the week went by, I had put it in the back of my mind, trusting that I would get my sign.

The following Sunday, one of the church elders came to me and we spoke a bit. As I greeted him, he slipped something into my hand. It was an R50.00 note! There I realized that I had indeed heard the Holy Spirit and I obeyed Him! Furthermore, I trusted God when I had no understanding of a situation. He sees all and He saw my obedience. Even when I didn’t understand, He revealed it to me.

May my testimony help you not only listen for God’s voice but to hear when He is speaking to you and to trust that He may reveal to you what needs to be revealed.”

Prayer: Father, there are times when do not understand Your ways in our acts of obedience. Thank You for teaching us that Your ways are not for our understanding, but for Your will – whether it’s for our benefit or those of others. Please teach us to act in obedience even if we do not understand. You are faithful and will give us understanding when needed. Amen.
