Day 23 – Through all odds, I am loved
“We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments.” 2 Corinthians 10:3-4
It is a privilege to share this anonymous testimony, “I came from an average, but very strict childhood. My dad was Indian, and my mother was African-American. The name of God, Church, or the Bible were things I never experienced as a child. Abuse, bitterness and unforgiveness were the foundations on which my early life was built.
I was sexually molested by my biological father since the age of five. During my teenage years, I fell pregnant with my dad’s child. Unfortunately, the child died in a fatal shooting accident. My mother’s job involved a lot of travelling around the world. Never in my entire life have I ever experienced a mother-daughter relationship. I was never her favourite. She spent more time with my siblings. That’s how a feeling of failure persisted.
I married at the young age of 22. I was so happy to have found a man that I could trust. But that very same trust was short-lived. My husband became like my father at the same time, meaning, he was just as selfish just like my dad and lustful. My husband had a child with one of my sisters. A year after that child was born, my husband was brutally murdered.
Shortly after my husband’s death, I started using alcohol. I did not care about anything else, and I would spend most of my time in bars or nightclubs. I want as far as hooking up with same-sex partners. Later I found myself in lesbian relationships. My family found out about it, and they immediately disowned me.” To be continued.
Prayer: Father, such a humble testimony showing us the ugly truth of this world. We carry on with our daily lives without realizing what is happening around us, or even in our neighbors’ houses. Teach us the importance of praying for those who do not know You and for not being able to pray for themselves. Amen.
