Day 3 – Rise up and walk!

“The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.” John 5:7-9(KJV)
This miracle we read about in John 5 always reminds me of my life every day. Most days I feel like this impotent man. I have struggled with depression throughout my life and these words of the man feel very close to home most days. Just when I think now, I can stand up to take my healing, someone else steps in front of me, or the enemy comes and tries to convince me that I don’t deserve the healing. That my illness and weakness are too big and strong, it cannot be cured.
In this scripture, Jesus reminds me that He can heal any illness, as long as I have faith. It reminds me how grateful I should be for my two fully functional legs and arms, and a body and brain that can do all things through Him who gives me strength. I have learned that two things lessen depression, praising and worshipping God and being grateful. So next time you feel like sitting next to the pool, like this impotent man, remember Jesus’ words, and rise up! He is also commanding us to pick up our beds (burdens etc) and walk.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank you for assuring me that You can heal anything. Please help me to remember this daily and have faith in you for my healing, for you died on the cross for every illness. Amen.
