Day 3 – Your transforming presence!

Exodus 34:29 “And it came about, when Moses was coming down from Mount Sinai (and the two tablets of the testimony were in Moses’ hand as he was coming down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because of his speaking with Him … So when Aaron and all the sons of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone.”
Moses encountered God’s awesome presence in the form of a burning bush (after spending 40 years in hiding) when God called him back to Egypt to confront the Pharaoh; it was this Presence in Moses that gave him the authority to speak directly with Pharoah, commanding him to set the Israelites free from slavery.
It was His awe-inspiring presence from which God shielded Moses when He said, “You cannot see My face, for no man shall see Me and live. And while My glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft of the rock and cover you with My hand until I have passed by.”
In the wilderness, Moses needed direction, thus he went to meet with the Lord. While Moses was getting strengthened in his faith and calling by spending time in God’s presence, the Israelites were doing quite the opposite, worshipping a man-made calf. After spending 40 days on the mountain in this very Presence, the “skin of his face shone and sent forth beams”. He was equipped to do the task. This is what the Lord’s presence does – it transforms!
It remains our choice. Do we want it?
Prayer: Holy One, Ancient of Days, I desire to be transformed so that Your anointing will be evident in me. Help me, give me a hunger for You so that I will not waste time with futile activities, but that I will spend time in Your transforming presence, instead. Amen.
