Day 4 – Know your shortcomings
HOLD YOUR TONGUE AND KEEP YOUR PEACE

Job 6:24 (AMPC) “Teach me, and I will hold my peace; and cause me to understand wherein I have erred.”

As mentioned before resting in God is a gift and truly resting in Him gives us peace regardless of what is happening in and around us. In Job 6:24 we learn that resting in Him is also a time of fault finding and learning how to hold our peace by knowing when to hold our tongues.

As we return to God and repent, our resting a while will also be a time of retrospect and trusting Holy Spirit to show us where we have erred. To gain back authority and have the abundant prosperous life God has intended for us, we will have to dig deeper and define what is keeping us from this place of rest and learn to control our words. Resting in Him also refers to a state of keeping quiet and being able to listen.

If you are like me, a new year also brings a long list of things to be done, achieved, and completed. In a way we start a new year with a lot of pressure and expectations, it is not a bad thing to have a vision and dream for the new year, it becomes bad if keeps us so occupied and busy that we lose our peace.

For today do some retrospect and as Holy Spirit guides you, try to define your ‘defects’, especially the ones stealing your peace.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we get so consumed by the wrong things in life and miss the mark daily. As we embark on resting a while in this new year, please teach us through Your Spirit how to hold our peace at all times and seek the resting place in You with all our hearts. Amen
