Day 5 – Loving the Godly way: Sincere
“Love is to be sincere and active [the real thing—without guile and hypocrisy]. Hate what is evil [detest all ungodliness, do not tolerate wickedness]; hold on tightly to what is good. Be devoted to one another with [authentic] brotherly affection [as members of one family], give preference to one another in honor; never lagging behind in diligence; aglow in the Spirit, enthusiastically serving the Lord;” Romans 12:9-11 (AMP)
Loving ourselves is much easier than denying ourselves. Loving who we are can often look past the flaws and shortcomings we have towards others and how we love them because it is self-centered.
Romans 12, verses 9 to 21, teaches us how to love the Godly kind of way – for some of us, these are hard words and unfair expectations but simply put, this is what God’s love looks like.
We will be looking at the characteristics of Godly love for the next few days – I hope you are ready!
Romans 12:9-11 teaches us the following about sincere Godly love:
- Sincere & active
- Hating what is evil and holding on to what is good
- Devotion to one another
- Preference for others in honour
- Enthusiastically serving the Lord
Meditate on these scriptures truths today, what do you learn about loving the Godly kind of way?
Prayer: Father God, we thank You for the Word that teaches and guides us. As we meditate on these scriptures today, may Holy Spirit be the after teacher of how we are to apply these into our daily lives, and we take up our cross and follow You, loving others in this way. Amen.
