Day 5 – Pay Attention to the Big Picture

“Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence, and [recognize and honor and] glorify your Father who is in heaven. “ Matthew 5:16

From the day of rebirth from above, our lives have not been our own, we have been called, appointed, and planted to bear fruit and even though at the moment it might not feel like a big thing, every word and action has a ripple effect into eternity in what it brings forth in those we interact with.

Our attitude is to become like the attitude of God, that we do not flinch away from the momentary affliction, but with grace, elegance, and forbearance we let the offense roll from our shoulders like water from a duck’s back, because we look at the result that our actions bring forth and not at the momentary relief our thoughtless reaction will bring, usually culminating in us having to apologise…

Prayer: Father, You have called us to a higher purpose, but not only called, You equip us with the power to rise above the circumstances and see the bigger picture, to see that even when the attacks start, we can remain calm and in control, for we know that we do not live for the momentary relief, but for the eternal results that our obedience will bring. Let Your Spirit have full reign, Lord, we submit to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
