Day 6 – Don’t Be Afraid to Say No

“No temptation [regardless of its source] has overtaken or enticed you that is not common to human experience [nor is any temptation unusual or beyond human resistance], but God is faithful [to His word—He is compassionate and trustworthy], and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability [to resist], but along with the temptation He [has in the past and is now and] will [always] provide the way out as well, so that you will be able to endure it [without yielding, and will overcome temptation with joy].” 1 Corinthians 10:13

Great is the temptation to feel obligated – and great is the freedom when we communicate with truth. Let our desire to be obedient overshadow our fear of hurting feelings and disappointing others.

Prayer: Father our Father, how great is Your wisdom and insight into us, how well You know us! Thank you that we can fearlessly go where you send us and without fear refuse when You indicate the opposite. May we hear Your voice behind us saying this is the way we should go so that we never find ourselves in a space where we are over-committed and exhausted, but always refreshed and energised, because we follow where You lead. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
