Day 8 – Recognize What You Can’t Control

“Be angry [at sin—at immorality, at injustice, at ungodly behavior], yet do not sin; do not let your anger [cause you shame, nor allow it to] last until the sun goes down. And do not give the devil an opportunity [to lead you into sin by holding a grudge, or nurturing anger, or harboring resentment, or cultivating bitterness].” Ephesians 4:26-27
Undoubtedly we are going to be confronted with things that we do not agree with, that are against our faith, and our beliefs, and without a doubt, it is going to bring emotions to the fore, but we have been trained up in righteousness, exercised in self-control and the knowledge that there is great reward in not reacting to every situation. In this frame of mind we tackle what lies ahead, we have been prepared and victory belongs to us!
Prayer: Holy One of Israel, many are the temptation and trials of the righteous, but You deliver us out of them all! May we grab hold of the ability You have given us to be still, to let the picture unfold, and find that most of the time we are not the ones called upon to get involved in arguments that have no good result but are the ones who make the peace and through the absence of judgment find an opening for Your love to reach out. May You find us acceptable vessels of Your love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
