Revealer of Mysteries & Purpose

1 Corinthians 2:10            “Yet, to us God has unveiled and revealed them by and through His Spirit, for the Holy Spirit searches diligently, exploring and examining everything, even sounding the profound and bottomless things of God [the divine counsels and things hidden and beyond man’s scrutiny].”

Let’s backtrack a little to the previous verse: God has prepared something unfathomably great for His children – in fact, it is comprehensible to our human minds because God has hidden it. Ever wonder why He hides His mysteries? It is hidden for us and hidden from the enemy of our souls. One of the functions that the Holy Spirit fulfils in the life of the believer, is to unveil the hidden treasures to His children. If they were open in plain sight, the enemy would steal them away before the believer could even realise it was there.

The Holy Spirit is faithful. He desire’s that we should experience God’s ultimate plan for our lives. God promises in Isaiah 45:3 that “I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that it is I, the Lord, the God of Israel, Who calls you by name.” In other words, are the hidden mysteries and secret riches not directly related to our unique and personal calling? How would we ever discover who we are and know what God’s purpose is for each of us if the Holy Spirit doesn’t reveal it to us?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, I realise that there is more to my life than merely existing. I long to know what my purpose is, why You created me. Holy Spirit, I ask You to reveal to me those ‘profound and bottomless things’ that You have intended for me. I want to honour You with my life. Amen
