Holy Spirit – Day 3 – Born of Water & Spirit
Born of Water and of the Spirit
John 3:3,5 “Unless a person is born again (anew, from above), he cannot ever see the kingdom of God… unless a man is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.”
All of us are in need of salvation. The requirement for salvation is not good works or rituals or religious sacraments – no. It is simply to believe in the heart and confess with the mouth that Jesus Christ is the Messiah. The Holy Spirit does the regenerating of man’s spirit – He brings the power of the Gospel into our heart, brings our spirit to life and causes us to call out, ‘Abba! Father!’ (Romans 5:15). 1 Corinthians 12:3 says: “And no one can [really] say, Jesus, is my Lord, except by and under the influence of the Holy Spirit.”
Just as the Holy Spirit was actively involved during the creation of the earth, He is also actively involved in the recreation of our spirit. Isn’t it wonderful that the Holy Spirit takes our old, sinful nature and creates a brand new creation? “Therefore, if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!” Thank You, Holy Spirit!
Dear friend, have you asked Jesus Christ to be your Saviour? Will you allow Him to make you His child?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for saving me, thank You for allowing me to be called a child of God. Holy Spirit, thank You for making me new, for giving me the spirit of adoption by which I can call out, Abba Father! May I always be aware of Your indwelling presence. Amen
