Receive the Holy Spirit

Acts 1:8 “But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you…”

In the remainder of Acts 1:8, Jesus gave the disciples (and all believers) the command to be His witnesses to the ends of the earth. The disciples were unaware of the dreadful persecution, torture and even cruel deaths that awaited them because of their faith. Yet, God knew that His Promise, the Holy Spirit, would clothe them in divine power, wisdom, courage and discernment, and they would be able to withstand the enemy’s plan to hinder the Gospel’s message.

Whatever the kind of persecution and onslaughts we face from the enemy in our Christian walk, we have absolute comfort in knowing this: we have the Holy Spirit! As believers, we are guaranteed of the Holy Spirit’s presence and active involvement in our lives. The moment we become born again, He lives in us. We are His temple. He is everything we need at any given moment. He is constantly abiding in us, waiting to be acknowledged, longing to be involved in our every decision, action and thought.

Prayer: Spirit of the living God, thank You for being my eternal Companion. Thank You for the wonderful privilege that I have to be Your home. May I constantly be aware of You in me; may I honour You in my life. Amen
