Holy Spirit – Day 5 – Preparation for Purpose
Preparation for Purpose
Psalm 139:7,16 “Where could I go from Your Spirit?… Your eyes saw my unformed substance, and in Your book all the days [of my life] were written before ever they took shape, when as yet there were none of them.”
In the beginning, the Spirit of God was present, hovering over the deep before there was order before anything was created. Before Jesus’ birth, the Spirit of God was there to prepare the hearts of mankind to receive the Messiah. And before Jesus’ ministry began, the Holy Spirit prepared Jesus for His earthly purpose by firstly empowering Him at His baptism, and then leading Him into the wilderness for forty days.
The Holy Spirit prepared John the Baptist for his purpose regarding the coming Messiah too. While Elizabeth was pregnant with John, the Holy Spirit filled him. When he grew up, he had no hesitance in fulfilling his calling and purpose.
Before we discover what is our God-given purpose and calling, the Holy Spirit starts preparing us through circumstances, people that cross our paths, specific words. He is the One Who leads us into our purpose. Have you found your purpose? Are you living in that unique purpose that God has created you for? The Holy Spirit will not only lead you there, but He will also be your Companion in it.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, my desire is to be in Your will; to live in my God-given purpose. You know what it is because You were there from the beginning when I was formed. I ask You now to reveal Your plan to me. Amen
