Holy Spirit – Day 6 – Living Water

Living Water

John 7:38,38       “He who believes in Me as the Scripture has said, from his innermost being shall flow [continuously] springs and rivers of living water. But He was speaking here of the Spirit…”

It’s easy to identify a person who has rivers of living water flowing from them. The fruit show in their lives. Psalm 1:3 gives a beautiful description of a person who has streams of living water flowing through them. “He shall be like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or whither; and everything he does shall prosper [and come to maturity].”

We all know someone who is constantly “tended” by the Holy Spirit – they are usually ready to share a timely word received from their intimacy with Him; someone who portrays the fruit of the Spirit at any given point in their lives, whether the season is good or dry. This type of person’s “leaf does not fade or whither” – words of healing, wisdom and kindness flow naturally from their lips for others to find nourishment.

These people seem to always prosper, not in the sense that their lives are perfect and that nothing ever goes wrong; rather than their souls prosper even in the storms of life because they find their joy and comfort in God.

Prayer: Precious Holy Spirit, I need You so desperately! Without You, I will whither and fade when the heat comes. Let Your living water flow in and through me constantly as I seek You. May Your fruit be evident in my life. Amen
