Holy Spirit – Day 8 – Spirit of Wisdom
Spirit of Wisdom
Acts 6:10 “But they were not able to resist the intelligence and the wisdom and [the inspiration of] the Spirit with which and by Whom he spoke.”
The indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit is visible to the world because believers receive supernatural ability which they don’t naturally possess. One day when Peter and John were preaching, the high priests and some other authority figures demanded to know by whose authority they were preaching and healing people since they knew that Peter and John were uneducated men (Acts 4). Peter, being filled with the Spirit, answered them with authority. Later it states, “…they marvelled: and they recognized that they (Peter and John) had been with Jesus. And since they saw the man who had been cured standing there beside them, they could not contradict the fact or say anything in opposition.”
The Holy Spirit equips His believers with intelligence and wisdom in a specific situation. Paul prays in Ephesians 1:17 that we would receive the “…Spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into the mysteries and secrets] in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of Him.” We need to recognise the working of the Holy Spirit in our lives. It is He who fills, empowers and equips His children. We must give Him the glory and honour for this.
Prayer: Thank You, Holy Spirit, for being ever-present in my life as the Spirit of Wisdom and Truth. I acknowledge that You are my source of wisdom, especially when I don’t know how to handle a situation. I need You, Holy Spirit. Amen
