Dear Thoughts… Day 10

The world is an awful place
“Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.” Genesis 1:31 NKJV
It is easy to catastrophize about humanity when we see unkindness. Our thoughts automatically zoom in on the negative – telling you how awful the world is. How bad the people are… By the time your thoughts are settled in, you are ready to buy a one-way ticket off this blue planet.
It is the same with our days. Things happen. We get home exhausted (emotionally most of the time). While taking off your shoes you think how bad your day was. Normally you cannot wait for someone to ask, “How was your day?”. There is a whole lot I can tell you about my days sometimes. Just to unload it onto someone else will make me feel a lot better. But then I got this thought…
Dear Thoughts… Who am I to say that this world is bad or that I did not have a good day? God – the Creator of EVERYTHING – said that indeed, it was very good. The world and everything in it are good as created by God. My day was good, as created by God. I will no longer think this world is an awful place – God made it good. I will no longer think I had a bad day – God made it good. I choose to see the good in the world around me and to pray for the things I think are awful. I choose to have good days and pray about things trying to upset the balance of my days. God made the world good. God made the days good. God made me good. God is good.
Prayer: Father, thank You for making the world good. For making every single day since creation up to this very second, good. You are a good God. Please open my eyes to see the good in this world and to part from the thought that this world is an awful place. That is an awful thought. Thank You for being good. And good to me. Amen.
