Day 243 – Luke: Message and ministry of Jesus, the Savior
“Then fear came upon all, and they glorified God, saying, ‘A great prophet has risen up among us’; and, ‘God has visited His people.’ And this report about Him went throughout all Judea and all the surrounding region.” Luke 7 16-17 NKJV
Read Luke 4:14 to Luke 21:38
Jesus was deeply interested in people and relationships. He showed warm concern for His followers and friends – men, women, and children. His love for people is good news for everyone, and His message is for all people in every nation.
Luke describes Jesus’s ministry through three sections: His ministry in Galilee, on the way to Jerusalem, and in Jerusalem. Jesus taught great crowds of people, especially through parables illustrating truths about God’s Kingdom. But only those with ears to hear would understand. We should pray that God’s Spirit will help us understand the implications of the truths Jesus taught for our lives so we can become more and more like Him.
As a perfect human, Jesus showed tender sympathy to those who were poor, despised hurt, and sinful. No one was rejected or ignored by Him. Jesus is more than just a good teacher – He cares for you deeply, enough to have given His life for you. Because of me, you, and the whole world, Jesus chose to become our Savior.
Prayer: Father, thank You for showing us through Luke the love Jesus has for all people and that He took the time to teach and heal where needed. Thank You for the miracles and lessons we can learn from, and I pray that You will open our ears to hear the Kingdom message through the book of Luke. Amen.
