Day 78 – Where is Your Faith?

Study Luke 8:22-25

“But He said to them, ‘Where is your faith?’” Luke 8:25a

In the wake of the storm, Jesus turned to His shaken disciples with a single, piercing question: “Where is your faith?” He did not rebuke them for waking Him, but for allowing fear to blind them to His presence and power. The wild storm could not disturb the sleep of Jesus, but the unbelief of His disciples grieved Him. Their struggle was not simply feeling afraid in a fierce circumstance but forgetting His word. Because Jesus had clearly declared, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” Unbelief is not merely encountering a storm; it is losing sight of God’s promise in the middle of it.

The disciples should have known that God would not allow the Messiah to perish in a boat on Galilee. As G. Campbell Morgan observed, when we wail in anxiety that everything is about to capsize, we forget that the boat cannot go down when Jesus is on board.

Confronted by total calm, the disciples were filled with a holy awe, asking, “Who can this be? For He commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him!” In that single moment, they witnessed both His complete humanity in His tired sleep and the fullness of His deity over creation. When the fiercest trials beat against your life, rest in the truth that the One in your boat holds absolute authority over every wind and wave.

Pray with me: Lord Jesus, forgive me when I allow difficult circumstances to obscure Your promises. When life feels overwhelming, remind me that You are in my boat and that Your Word will carry me to the other side. Anchor my heart in Your unfailing presence. Amen. ©
