Day 1 – Now faith is the assurance
Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things we hope for, being the proof of things we do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].”
We hope for things that we do not see yet. And then we put our faith behind that hope. What proof do we have that we will ever see these promises fulfilled? Faith is the proof that our prayers will be answered. Think about it. Evidence in a courtroom is the solid foundation on which a case is built. It is something tangible that proves innocence or guilt. Evidence in court gives the assurance of a fail-proof case. This Scripture makes the profound statement that faith is the evidence, the confirmation of the realisation of what we hope for. Faith, which is an invisible force, is hard evidence that the things we hope for will come to pass. It is the conviction that the promise we are holding onto is indeed on its way to fulfilment.
There is so much depth to this Scripture. How exactly does faith work? Have you ever felt that your faith doesn’t work? Don’t give up, dear friend! Take a hold of God’s outstretched hand. This is our assurance. Join me tomorrow when we will explore the foundation on which I believe faith should be built.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Your Word astounds me! I do not understand the depth of this Scripture, but it stirs in my spirit. It is powerful! Thank you for this gift of faith that You have given each one of us. Teach me, Lord, how faith works and how I can use it most effectively. Amen.
