Day 313 – 2 John – Truth and love
“Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Father’s Son, will be with us in truth and love.” 2 John 1:3 NIV

Following God’s Word (the Bible) is essential to Christian living because God is the author of truth. To be loyal to Christ’s teaching, we must seek to know the Bible and must never twist its message to our own needs or purposes or encourage others who misuse it. Christ’s true followers consistently obey His truth.
We must be wary of religious leaders who are not true to Christ’s teaching, and we must not give them a platform in our lives. Don’t encourage those who are opposed to Christ. Politely remove yourself from association with false teachers. Be aware of what is taught in your church, or what you listen to.
The basic ingredient of true Christianity is Jesus Christ’s command for us to love one another. To obey Him fully by living out this command.
Prayer: Thank You, Lord, that we find valuable truths in this short letter of John and that it constantly points us to the truth of Your Word and the command to love. Help us to be truthful in all that we do and to love others even when it is difficult. Amen.
