Fasting like Daniel – Day 1
Connection
Fast: Dinner
“In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.” Matthew 6:9 (NKJV)
As a little girl, I was fascinated with the big black phone on the wall on the family farm. Somehow, everyone knew exactly what shrill ring was for them and when answered, the operator will connect you with the caller once they confirmed it was you. When my aunt needed to phone someone, she would call the operator and ask to be connected to whomever she wanted to speak. Our connection to God the Father is like this old-fashioned communication network – the only difference is Jesus is our operator. Through His sacrifice, He opened communication lines to God for us to connect through prayer.
Prayer is our communication network connecting us to God our Father. While fasting, you need to spend a lot of time in prayer. If you are uncertain what to pray, you can pray the scriptures below for today’s fasting. If we don’t pray, God can’t answer us, and we might miss an important Word from His heart.
Scriptures: Matthew Chapters 2-3 and Daniel 9:3-4
Prayer: Father, as we start this fast, I pray that we draw closer to You and connect with You through prayer on an exciting new level. I pray for determination and endurance for all who start the fast with us, to stay strong until the last day. Amen.
(Tomorrow we will be fasting lunch.)
