The Architect of our physical, emotional, and spiritual rest, sanctified this day as holy for us to remind ourselves of our limitations and His majesty. Resting in the Lord is trusting in Him.
We need to unlearn the idea that if you stop to rest, everything will fall apart. The world carries on without you trying to do and manage everything. I used to be a control freak and spend so much time on things (work, tasks, schedules, and meetings) that I neglected what was really important. A dear friend once told me, โIf it is not going to cause World War III, it can wait till tomorrow.โ
One of the foundations of truly observing the Sabbath is to trust the Lord. Trust that He has ๐จ๐ฐ๐ต your schedule. Trust that in the time of rest, He will give you revelation and a clear understanding for the week to come. Trust that He will give you strength and peace to handle difficult situations. Trust that the Sabbath is a sign of His covenant and a reminder that He is Lord. Nothing is more important in your schedule than resting in Him.
Prayer: Father, thank You that I can trust You. Not just when I observe the Sabbath, but with everything. Teach me to completely surrender my time to You in trust and to remember that it is a covenantal sign. I am trusting that You are Lord over all. Amen.
