Day 1 – The Word of God
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1 CJB
To understand God’s Word, you need to know God’s Word. And to know it, you need to read it, because God’s Word was there from the beginning and will be there at the end of this age. Bible study can be challenging for many – especially if you do not know where to start. 66 Books combined into the Bible seems like a lot of reading and I understand why people choose not to dive into the divine pages. But Scripture is a sketch drawn by the hand of God for us to seek Him and know Him. To be a light to our path while teaching us principles and (most importantly) God’s unmeasurable love for you and me.
Scripture reveals that the biblical scrolls were written to be read aloud, often in public worship. In our modern age, this is still the case – more people will hear the Bible read aloud in church or on apps than they are likely to read it for themselves. I would like to encourage you to read aloud when you do Bible study because faith comes by hearing.
This year God has given a vision for Women of the Word to follow the scripture sketch He has drawn. Through this Bible study adventure, we will look at each book of the Bible, the basic story, themes and certain characters. Yes, this is a year’s worth of study. I invite you, lovely one, to take up your Bible and follow this study with us as the sketch unfolds within the pages of God’s Word.
Prayer: Father, You are glorious and holy and Your guidance through Your Word draws us closer to You. Unfold the sketch You want to draw for each person venturing with us through this study. May Your mercy, grace, glory, love, and truth prevail. Draw us closer to Your heart as we get to know Your Word better. Amen.
