Day 19 – Jesus
“And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21 NLT
Joseph was instructed to name the miracle baby Jesus, which means “saviour” – a modern-day version of the Hebrew name Yeshua (Joshua in the Old Testament). This is a significant name and role because Jesus was born as a baby with the divine calling to save all sinners from eternal death by shedding His blood on the cross as the ultimate sacrifice.
Other leaders of the time described themselves as mighty and great, but Jesus, the Son of God, humbly called Himself Saviour, knowing this title would take Him to the cross for all. Indeed, Jesus is the altogether wonderful Name of all!
Prayer: Father, thank You that Jesus is the Name above all names! The Name we can call upon and hold on to through faith. Thank You, Jesus, for who You are and for choosing to save a sinner like me. I am forever grateful, and I love You. Amen.
May you and your loved ones have a blessed Christmas and may the Joy of God fill your hearts. Love, Pastor Iriza
