Day 18 – Light of the World

“Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” John 8:12 NLT

Light is the first thing God calls good. In a world without sin, light is synonymous with glory. Light is essential – it glistens of gold, sparkles like dew in the first rays of morning light, and shines on anointed faces.

Jesus takes the name of Yahweh (I am) when he declares Himself the light of the world. Jesus Christ, the very God who burst into resplendent glory when He said, “Let there be light,” was born as a man, the altogether wonderful Light of the World amid the darkness of sin.

Prayer: Father, thank You for the Light of the World who was willing to overcome darkness and death so we can walk in His glory. Jesus, thank You for choosing to go to the grave in our place and being the only true light for our path. Thank You for leading us towards life. Amen.

Love, Pastor Iriza
