Paul concludes with prayer – continuous, alert, persistent prayer. Prayer activates the armour. Without prayer, the armour is worn, but unused. Is prayer your first response or your last resort? In our busy lives we so often fall into habits of only praying a quick prayer when we need something, or when we are in trouble. We should be intentional about our prayers. We should be thankful in our prayers, and we should ask the Lord to make us bold, as Paul does in Ephesians. He says that praying assists him in knowing the mystery of the gospel, but it also causes him to speak boldly.

We are also ambassadors of the gospel, as Paul says he is, and we can only speak boldly and persevere as we should through prayer.

Prayer: Dear Father, please help me to pray intentionally with perseverance. Thank you for giving me the power to speak boldly and to be your ambassador through prayer. Amen.
