Day 12 – Hope

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” Hebrews 10:23 NKJV

Hope – the confident expectation of what God has promised, and its strength is in His faithfulness

In Hebrew, Tikvah means hope, expect, look forward to, and wait.

“Conviction” was the word in the verse describing the first virtue of faith, whilst “confession” is descriptive of hope. The virtues can function independently and together in beautiful harmony through love and grace. Whilst faith is the conviction of believing wholeheartedly in the “unseen”, hope is the confession. Declaring what we believe, in Whom we believe, and fulfilment of promises made by He who is faithful.

Confession is declaring with words what your heart believes, and your soul aligns with. All the promises (and I mean ALL) from God in scripture should build your hope in the Faithfull One without wavering. But do we speak, declare, or pray these promises? Or do we whine, expect, and complain when they are not what we expected?

Confess what you believe in the Spirit and do not waver in what God has promised. He is faithful. Hold fast to that.

Prayer: Father, may our hope always be unwavering and our confessions be scripture-bound towards the promises You’ve made. Thank You, that because You are faithful, I can have the assured hope in You and hold fast to You. Where I’ve lost hope, I ask that You renew my hope in You. Amen.
