Day 128 – Psalms: Book 4

“Sing a new song to the Lord! Sing to the Lord; praise his name. Each day proclaim the good news that he saves. Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does.” Psalm 96:1-3 NLT

Reading Psalm 90 to Psalm 106

Mainly written by unknown authors, this collection of Psalms corresponds to the book of Numbers. Just as Numbers sketches the relationship of the nation of Israel to surrounding nations, these Psalms often mention the relationship of God’s overruling Kingdom to the other nations. Because we are citizens of the Kingdom of God through Jesus Christ, we can keep the events and troubles of this world in their proper perspective.

These Psalms include a prayer of Moses, a song about oppressors, and a song of praising God as our king. They remind us that we should remember our place and be submissive before our mighty God.

Prayer: Father, thank You for Your goodness, grace, mercy, and that each day proclaim the Good News. May our relationship with You be enveloped in worship, thanksgiving, and praise because You are our Almighty King. Amen.
