Fasting like Daniel – Day 6

Equip me
Fast: Lunch
“A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.” 1 Corinthians 12:7 (NLT)
Much like Moses, I would try to debate myself out of doing something. Especially if it’s something unfamiliar or if I am uncertain of how to go about it. Once I was asked to go and pray for an elderly man in hospital. That was the only information I had and felt the Holy Spirit urging me to go. “I’ve never prayed for someone in hospital” “I don’t know what’s wrong with him” are only a few of the excuses I came up with. But with every excuse, the Holy Spirit pushed harder so I decided to just be obedient and went.
As I was standing next to the very fragile old man (who was deaf and blind) God just flooded me with His Spiritual Gifts and I could minister to the old man. Me, as a mere human, would not have known what to do, but God did!
When God requires you to act for Him, He will equip you! During your fast, you can pray and ask God to equip you for certain tasks you need to do. I also think it’s of utmost importance to pray for the equipping of God’s Armor during the fast.
Prayer: Father, thank You for in my shortcomings, You lavish us with Your Spiritual Gifts. Give us the confidence to boldly go where You need us and to have faith that You will give the correct gift at the opportune time. Amen.
Scripture: Matthew Chapters 14-16 & Daniel 10:4-7
