Listen – Day 19

Weaknesses of a Spiritual Feeler

“The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit.” Psalm 34:18

Emotional maturity is not something you put in your shopping basket at the local market. It’s not a chapter in one of the schoolbooks or even taught to us by our parents. Because emotions are as complexed as a beautiful rainbow, we sometimes battle to understand it and therefore we shy away from facing them head-on. Spiritual feelers have their own emotions and then add to the mix like a strawberry swirl on ice-cream, someone else’s emotions. But God created spiritual feelers with the ability to differentiate these through His Spirit. These weaknesses may help you to change an emotional mess into emotional maturity in the Spirit. God will use a spiritual feeler to be near those with broken hearts and contrite spirits to help them feel His love through them.

  • Spiritual feelers have difficulty functioning when things don’t feel right. They feel something is wrong or wrong with someone else and it becomes so overwhelming that it takes them over completely. Some feelers take this emotion as their own and can often lead to depression or other emotional dysfunctionalities.

  • They can overvalue what they “feel” and leave others behind by just following what they are feeling from God and have difficulty explaining it to others.

  • The undervalue feelings and dismissing it without recognizing God in it. Because you’ve been labelled as being over-emotional about something, you dismiss the feeling thinking that it’s you and not from God. But this emotion is usually the key to intercede with God and instead of carrying this feeling around, ask God what He is imparting emotionally with you, to help someone else. It could be something as small as to send a verse or worship song.

Anchor yourself in who God is, and not what you feel. This is the emotional key to ground yourself to the Word of God and starts to understand your prophetic gift.

Prayer: Father, I ask that these weaknesses become strengths in the lives of Spiritual Feelers and they will become so in touch with Your heart and feelings to pray and help others. Thank You for Your beautiful touch in their lives. Amen. ©
