A Ruth Relationship – Day 14
Shared blessings
“So she gleaned in the field until evening, and beat out what she had gleaned, and it was about an ephah of barley. Then she took it up and went into the city, and her mother-in-law saw what she had gleaned. So she brought out and gave to her what she had kept back after she had been satisfied” Ruth 2:17-18 (NKJV)
Look, after a long day being bend down to pick up grain in the sun and have to carry it all back home, I have a lot of respect for Ruth. An ephah measures to about 22 litres! And from a geographical look at the towns in Biblical times, the fields were not close to town. Without complaint, Ruth took her bounty home to share.
Naomi’s character teaches us that doesn’t matter what happened in her life, she had an unshakable faith. I am sure, that from the time Ruth left until her return, Naomi prayed for her daughter in law. We can see in her response towards what Ruth told her, she understood the blessing and favour God bestowed upon them. It’s important to ask people to pray for you. There are times when God puts someone on my heart to pray for, I do so without question. I know their needs are just as important and I’m overjoyed to hear the testimony of blessings that results.
Ruth Relationship Advice: Pray for others too because when God blesses you, He does so that others benefits from your blessings too. I see this as an overflow of His abundant love.
Prayer: Father, thank You for Your abundant love and for blessing me in so many ways that the blessings are shared too. Thank You for the opportunities and the abilities to pray for others. Amen.
