Blessed beyond today

“When Ruth went back to work again, Boaz ordered his young men, ‘Let her gather grain right among the sheaves without stopping her. And pull out some heads of barley from the bundles and drop them on purpose for her. Let her pick them up, and don’t give her hard time!” Ruth 2:15-16 (NLT)

I recall picking up an R100 note once. I remember still looking around of who might have dropped it. With no suspect as far as I could see, I said a silent “Thank You God” prayer. I really needed it at that moment. I imagine this is what Ruth thought when she started to collect the extra sheaves dropped by Boaz’s workers. The master of the field already blessed Ruth by inviting her to stay in his field, work amongst his gatherers, and to sit at his table. But he went above and beyond with the instruction to drop more barley for her ensuring she will have enough to take home.

Our Master blesses us beyond today in ways we normally don’t realize or understand. He takes care of our immediate needs and future needs. Open your eyes to the extra barley dropped into your life – this could be like the R100, some extra shifts, new work, additional income – all blessings ensuring we are blessed beyond today.

Ruth Relationship Advice: God blesses you beyond today, just open your eyes to the extra barley being dropped.

Prayer: Father, forgive me for the times I’m so blinded to my immediate need that I neglect to see the blessings beyond today. Thank You for the extra barley You drop into my life, Father. I love You for taking care of my needs today and beyond. Amen.
