Become acquainted

“One day Naomi said to Ruth, “My daughter, it’s time that I found a permanent home for you, so that you will be provided for.” Ruth 3:1

Naomi knew that her daughter-in-law would best be taken care of if she was married. Naomi was an elderly lady, knowing full well she will not remarry or have the means to provide for Ruth’s future. She wanted the best for Ruth who has selflessly taken care of her all this time. In the weeks covering the barley and wheat harvest seasons, certainly Ruth and Boaz had been around each other.

They had much opportunity to get to know each other during this time. In today’s society, we would call it “dating”. From God’s perspective, there is much more in “dating” than casual romantic relationships and find the “one” by jumping from partner to partner. God gave them the fortuity out of all the circumstances to become acquainted within a group (or community) setting.

As our relationship grow with our Father, we need to get acquainted too. Yes, God knows every DNA strand in your body. But do you know God? Truly and deeply like you would know your friends? Within the field of the Church or even your community, you learn more – and different aspects of God. When we praise, worship and pray with each other, we not only become better acquainted with God through our understanding, but also through the testimonies and faith of others.

Ruth Relationship Advice: Becoming acquainted with your Father deepens your unique relationship.

Prayer: Father, so often we seek refuge from the world and start to isolate ourselves from everyone. We often forget that You speak to us through Your church and people. I humbly ask to get better acquainted with You, my Father, the lover of my soul. Amen.
