Fragrance of Christ

“Now do as I tell you- take a bath and on perfume and dress in your nicest clothes. Then go to the threshing floor, but don’t let Boaz see you until he has finished eating and drinking.” Ruth 3:3

I have a special bottle of perfume I received as a gift from my husband. I’m not the type of girl who spends hours spraying little testers all over me at the cosmetics counter. (Frankly, my sinuses just don’t allow this). Whilst browsing around in the shop, my husband smelled this perfume and it reminded him of me. And with a smile – knowing he loves the smell – I “sprits-sprits” for special occasions. With every aromatic cloud from the little nozzle, I’m reminded of Ruth and queen Esther who prepared themselves with perfume before they went to meet their soon-to-be husbands.

2 Corinthians 2:15 teaches us that we are the fragrance of Christ to God. He has given us His only Son, Jesus Christ to be the perfume whilst preparing to meet our King. Our loving Father has given us everything we need (even fragrance) to prepare ourselves to meet Him.

Ruth Relationship Advice: Bathe in the knowledge and wisdom fragrance that is Jesus.

Prayer: Father, thank You for giving Jesus to be the fragrance surrounding us, so we can be equipped to meet You, our King. May I be sweet smelling in your site. Amen.
