Day 1 – Search my heart

“These six things the Lord hates; Indeed, seven are repulsive to Him: A proud look [the attitude that makes one overestimate oneself and discount others], a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that creates wicked plans, feet that run swiftly to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies [even half-truths], and one who spreads discord (rumors) among brothers.”  Proverbs 6:16-19

Precious ones, we have endured things that some would say horrific, terrible, unimaginable, but take courage because not one of these things was without purpose. Yes, in the beginning, these things caused us to harden our hearts to protect us from further pain, but that we would do this, was not news to God and being prepared for this, He now comes to use the very things that were meant to destroy us and turns them into blessings, as he uses it to take out of us the heart of stone, to replace it with a heart of flesh that knows His will. Before we start this devotional, I would encourage you to decide whether you are willing to change what is not pleasing to God and adopt a new life of freedom and joy that He has prepared for us.

Prayer: Lord, we come with the full knowledge and acceptance that we are not perfect. We understand that much has still to change within us and we no longer find it humiliating or a threat, but a joy to know that You are spending the time, taking the trouble and want to assist us in becoming the best we can be – free of self and full of Jesus! Take our hearts and minds, Lord, and make them Yours. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
