Day 2 – Superficial relationship with God
“In the [reverent] fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, and His children will [always] have a place of refuge. The [reverent] fear of the Lord [that leads to obedience and worship] is a fountain of life, so that one may avoid the snares of death.” Proverbs 14:26-27
There is something to be said for hard times wherein we are stripped of our masks and outward appearances of piety and we are brought before a mirror to see the true extent of our relationship with our Creator. There is a joy to be found in the revealing of all the lies and half-truths we tell ourselves to appease our conscience and to be set free by the truth. There is power to be found in the realisation that our dependence on God is a reality and that without Him we are nothing. Growing up in the world, we were guided in every aspect by what the world demands and found acceptable and we fell short every time, but when the reality takes hold of us that our worth is not found in creation but in the Creator, we get drawn into a world of supernatural love, acceptance, wisdom and power and this is the life that the Lord has planned for us. We must not be afraid to stand before this mirror, because the One holding it is perfect in love and His loyalty and faithfulness to us are unwavering.
Prayer: Precious Creator, we so many times judge ourselves through our own eyes and forget that Your thoughts are not our thoughts. May You touch our hearts and minds today with the true knowledge of Your very real love and acceptance and we be drawn to You as never before so that we might truly know You. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
