Day 10 – Resentful

“My son, do not reject or take lightly the discipline of the Lord [learn from your mistakes and the testing that comes from His correction through discipline]; Nor despise His rebuke, for those whom the Lord loves He corrects, even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.” Proverbs 3:11-12
How easily do we pout and ask: But why can the others do it, but not me? Why am I singled out – look at all that the others are doing! But do we get a shock when we read what Jesus said to Peter in John 21:21-22 when Jesus said to him: If I decide to do something with someone else, what is it to you? You follow Me! This is how easily the feeling of resentment towards people can turn into feeling resentful towards God, questioning His providence in not doing things the way we thought He should. Dangerous territory, as it is the step just before the rebellion, bringing separation between us and the only One Who can lead us on straight paths if we simply choose to trust Him and keep our eyes focused on Him.
Prayer: Father, forgive us because we know not what we do. Train us, Lord, in righteousness, that right standing with You, which opens the doors of our hearts to the deeper insight of everything that is taking place. Bless us as we focus our minds on You and allow Your input to a far greater degree than up to now and help us change our thinking and our attitudes to suit our calling in You. In Jesus name. Amen
