Day 1 – Welcome to an in-depth study of the Gospel of Luke

In 2023, God told me to spend a year in the Gospel of Luke, and at first, I thought twenty-four chapters wouldn’t take me 𝘡𝘩𝘒𝘡 long…

Luke, the gentile physician, became the careful historian of Jesus’ and the early Church’s great story. With a steady hand and a compassionate heart, he recorded the most detailed account of the Messiah’s birth and healing ministry. He travelled faithfully with the Apostle Paul through perilous journeys, never turning back when others did.

To Luke, there is no barrier between Jew and Gentile, men and women, and the rich and the poor. He records twenty-four accounts of Jesus’ ministry towards women – a striking emphasis in a culture where this was controversial. He provides rich detail of Jesus’ love for children and His compassion for the forsaken. Through his account, the humanity of Jesus is revealed – 𝘡𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘒𝘯𝘡 𝘰𝘧 𝘒𝘭𝘭, 𝘡𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘒𝘀𝘳π˜ͺ𝘧π˜ͺ𝘀𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘒𝘭𝘭.

This gospel from Luke’s pen is more than history. It is a testimony of loyalty, precision, and love. His words invite us to see Jesus with fresh eyes – the Son of God who touched the broken, healed the hurting, and sought the lost.

Throughout this devotional journey, we will explore the Gospel of Luke with a magnifying glass, examining name meanings, geographical locations, Hebrew words and contexts, Old Testament contexts, and much more. As you study with us, may Luke’s devotion inspire your own to follow Christ with faith that endures and a heart that reflects His compassion.

Pray with me: Father, thank You for the man, Luke, to whom You gave this important calling and gifts to capture historical details of Jesus and the early Church for us to study today. Please open my eyes, mind, and heart to drink in what You teach me. May our souls glorify You and my spirit rejoice in Jesus, my saviour. Amen. Β©

Love, Pastor Iriza
