Day 1 – Who’s Garden is it?

“Then the Lord God planted a garden in Eden in the east, and there he placed the man he had made.” Genesis 2:8
From the account of creation, we are introduced to Eden, God’s garden. In my wildest imagination, I cannot fathom how beautiful Eden must have been, but God gives us specific details to understand the garden He created. The garden is symbolic and representative of a few things in God’s Kingdom and our lives. From our hearts, ministries, unto eternity.
We learn, first and foremost, that God planted the garden of Eden. The next thing God directs our attention to is that He placed man in the garden. The Garden belongs to God. It is His and He chose to put us there for two reasons, “The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it.” Verse 15. Tend and watch. That’s it. Anything beyond that is stepping out of the naturally created law of being in God’s garden. But sometimes, just like Adam and Even, we do. We forget whose garden we were placed in and for what purpose.
We invite you to follow this devotional with us. For us to grow into healthy members of Christ’s Body, all of us need to understand the gardens in which we are placed so we can grow together as a stronger and united Body of Christ..
Prayer: Father, our Gardener, thank You for allowing us to grow as a community and learn about Your gardens, how to tend them, and watch over them. I ask for open hearts for the seeds sown by the Holy Spirit and healthy soil where they can spring into beautiful trees growing in Your Glory. Thank You for reminding us that any garden belongs to You first and by choice You have put us in it. Guide us today to remember this fact and let us worship You for the amazing gardens You created. In Jesus’s Name, I pray, Amen.
