Day 10 – Lord, teach us how to pray – Step 5

Matthew 6:13 “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.”

This is a humbling part of the prayer. As a child of God, I am never exempt from temptation. The evil one will always try to trip us up because his mission is to kill, steal and destroy, and his target is believers. We should always stay humble and dependent on God to protect us. When pride enters, there is also the danger that we will fall.

Notice that the Son of God ends the prayer in much the same way that He started – with praise. He ends by giving His Father the glory for Who He is. He acknowledges that the kingdom and the power and the glory belong to God alone. Even Jesus, Who is the Son of God, gave honour to His Father. Throughout Jesus’ ministry, He acknowledged the work and supremacy of the One Who sent Him – His Father. We should do the same.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, You are God, You are almighty and eternal. Without You, there is no hope, no goodness, no life. The glory for every blessing in my life belongs to You. All that I am, is because of You. Amen.
