Day 10 – Son of God

“The angel replied, “The Holy spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God.” Luke 1:32 NLT

For most Christians (those matured in their relationship with God), the effect of the name of Jesus as the Son of God has probably been taken for granted. So, what does it mean? Philippians 2:6 says, “Who, being in the very nature of god, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage” and Hebrews 1:8-9 says, “But about the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever.” When Paul refers to Jesus as the Son of God, we know this to mean that Jesus is in the nature of God. And so, we can have confidence that to know the Son is to know the Father! Is this not an altogether wonderful comfort to know we too share this sonship? Hallelujah!

Prayer: Father, thank You for giving Jesus, the Son of God, not only for our salvation, but to be in relationship with You and to know You through Him as sons and daughters of the Most High! Let us never take the altogether wonderful name of Jesus as the Son of God for granted. Amen.
