Day 10 – You hold me

“Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me.” Psalm 139:10 NKJV
I think for every mommy, it is an instinct to take your child’s hand when crossing a street or in a mall. My daughters are grown and I will still reach out for their hands – not so much out of habit but rather because of love and I want to protect them as much as I possibly can.
David was so assured of God’s constant presence and His hand of love and care that not even death and grave could ever separate him from his Father. Paul accents this though in Romans 8:38-39 when he says, “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (NLT)
God’s right hand is referred to by scholars as His hand of skill, strength, guidance, and authority. And just as His right hand holds David in this Psalm, He holds you too. No matter what may come. Imagine a father holding his child’s hand while crossing the street, walking in a busy place, or just strolling – this is how God guides us.
Let’s pray: Father, thank You for guiding and holding me with Your right hand of skill, strength, guidance, and authority. I do not want to venture anywhere without You and I ask today: Father please take my hand. Amen.
