Day 9 – You guide me

“If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,” Psalm 139:9 NKJV

No one can give a better account of what it is like to dwell (for a time at least) in the uttermost parts of the sea than Jonah. He said, “You threw me into the depths of the ocean depths, and I sank down to the heart of the sea. The mighty waters engulfed me; I was buried beneath your wild and stormy waves.” in Jonah 2:3 (NLT). This, of course, was a result of his disobedience.

In our disobedience we find ourselves in a spiritual depth resembling that of Johan and our only option is to cry out to the Lord and repent. Every morning we wake up with a choice: take on the day with God following His will and soar or follow our own ways and land up in the uttermost parts of the sea.

God had mercy on His chosen prophet and sent a fish to swallow and spit Jonah out on the shore of exactly where he needed to be. Because Jesus was sent for us, we can at any time call on Him to pull us from these depths and place us on the shore exactly where we need to be.

Let’s pray: Father, there are times I find myself trying to keep my head above water and it is then that I realized I was following my own will and not Yours. Thank You that from the lowest low You lift me up to the highest high to soar with You. Amen.
