Day 95 – The Kingdom and the Cross
Study Luke 9:18-22
“He said to them, ‘But who do you say that I am?’ Peter answered and said, ‘The Christ of God.’” Luke 9:20
After a quiet time of prayer, Jesus pressed His disciples with the most important question of human existence: “𝘞𝘩𝘰 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘢𝘮?” Brushing aside the popular rumours that He was John the Baptist, Elijah, or an old prophet returned, Peter confessed the profound truth: “𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘎𝘰𝘥.”
Yet, knowing who He was required learning what He came to do. Immediately, Jesus warned them to tell no one yet, revealing the shocking reality of His mission: the Son of Man had to suffer, be rejected by the religious leaders, be killed, and rise on the third day. This was not a tragic accident, but the divine, loving plan ordained before the foundation of the world to accomplish our salvation. Maybe the disciples did not completely understand this truth because how can this be the plan for their Saviour? Sometimes we do not understand God’s plan for us either, right? Trusting God looks like this: Lord, I do not understand Your plan, but I trust You and confess that Jesus is the Christ of God.
Pray with me: Lord Jesus, You are the Christ, the Savior of my soul. Help me to embrace not only Your glory, but the sacrificial path You walked to redeem me. Amen. ©
Love, Iriza
